YOGA, BREATHWORK & INSIGHTS
4 DAY COURSE - MONTHLY FROM DEC 2022
NORTH GOA, INDIA
DETAILED CLASS DESCRIPTIONS
HATHA FLOW (9am - 10:30am)
Each morning starts with a flowing asana class, followed by pranayama practice, and finishing with guided meditation. Each session is themed. The first class is "Foundations & Balance" followed by "Core-strengtheners", "Hips & Shoulders" and ending with "Backbends & Inversions" on the final day.
From the warm-up to the cool-down, the practice invites a sense of ease and poise into the body and mind.
Together we will allow the energy body, via the breath, to blend seamlessly with the physical body, allowing spaciousness and serenity to the mind. Students can expect to feel not only refreshed and energised, but also calm and contented by the end of the morning session.
'INSIGHTS' (10:45am - 11:45am)
In the mid-morning talks, Neil will introduce several key yogic concepts for discussion, designed to help with an overall understanding of how yoga as a practice and philosophy can be a guiding light in our daily lives.
Neil will also introduce for discussion explain unique "7 Simple Steps to Health and Happiness" to the discussions. These practical steps will reveal a clear, easy-to-follow approach to healthier, happier living. He will explain how these simple tools and techniques can be adapted and adjusted to work for everyone, not just for those predisposed to standing on their heads or studying the scriptures - though both these practices are highly valued. By the end of the 4 days, students will have a greater understanding of the role of yoga in their daily lives, in addition to taking away many practical tools to boost their own health and happiness to new heights.
HATHA ALIGNMENT & BREATHWORK (4pm - 6pm)
The afternoon class includes traditional Hatha yoga postures, with alignment cues and physical adjustments, followed by 30 minutes of breathwork, and concluding with a silent meditation.
Blending Hatha yoga with contemporary and ancient breathing techniques, students will 'refine' both their physical asana practice and the subtle art of pranayama, along with other breathwork practices.
In the tradition of Hatha yoga, poses will be held a little longer (from 5 breaths to 1 minute and beyond) in order to focus on quietening the mind, and to allow time to sink deeper into the experience of each pose. Precise verbal alignment cues and mindful, manual adjustments are offered, so students can gain maximum benefit from the practice. In the breathwork sections we will explore a variety of breathing techniques from Eastern traditions, including 'Pranayama' from India, 'Qi-Gong' from China, and other beneficial practices from Tibet and beyond.
